Mimbalot Falls

A not-so-high yet mighty falls with a drop of 90 ft. and a width of 18 ft. It is located in Buru-un, 11 kms from downtown.

It provides a very enjoyable swimming spot, the water being so cool.

Mimbalut is probably the most accessible of Iligan's 20 waterfalls, being just a few hundred meters away from the highway.

Tinago Falls

The falls is hidden in a deep ravine, cascading into a calm, deep and cool basin-like pool. It's deep, and one can't see anything below even with diving goggles. Swimming or just floating in it gives one a rare thrill.

Actually, there's more than one waterfall. There's a main fall, and on  each side are countless smaller ones, as though sprouting from everywhere. The span of these wondrous waters is so wide that it takes a super wide angle lens to capture all of them in one photograph.  It has an elevation of approximately 420 feet.  It is 13.8 kilometers away from the city proper.  Tinago Falls is one of the most beautiful falls in the country.   “Tinago” means hidden.  As the name implies, it is indeed hidden by nature in a deep ravine covered by trees and other wild vegetation. The falls is 420 feet high.  One has to go downhill and follow the winding trail to take a look.

Discover Iligan

Iligan described to be the city of Majestic waterfalls, nestled in the midst of luxuriant natural beauty of Northern Mindanao. It is a city truly blessed and nurtured by Mother Nature. It is protected from typhoons by natural barriers; its terrain is hugged by a long stretch of shoreline along the Iligan Bay.

Its mountains and lush forests hide numerous waterfalls in its embrace, earning for itself the title “City of Waterfalls.” The most famous, enchanting and the most awesome of these is the Maria Cristina Falls along the Agus River. Agus and Maria Cristina are sources of hydro electric power for most of Mindanao’s requirements. Spring like Timoga and Taytay are sources of cool and pristine water for swimming resorts that provide relief from summer heat. The coastline as well offers beaches and picnic grounds.

Iligan City is located in the Northeastern part of Mindanao, Philippines and facing Iligan Bay 795 kilometers southeast of Metro Manila. It covers an area of no less than 813.37 square kilometers comprosing 44 barangays, with type C climate characterized by short, low sun dry season for one to three months. Rainfall is evenly distributed throughout the year. It is located outside the typhoon belt, relatively an earthquake free zone.

It is home of the country's steel industry and Mindanao's electric power source.  Iligan is the industrial, commercial and education center of the province of Lanao del Norte. The city has 14 major manufacturing industries benefiting 6,412 semi and highly skilled workers are producing different products such as oxygen and acetylene, pipes and fitting, coco oil, cement, assorted biscuits, caustic soda and polyvinyl chloride, calcium carbide, recapped tires, cold and hot rolled coils, flour and burned and unburned bricks.  It also hosts the Mindanao Regional Center of the National Power Corporation in Mindanao because of the number of hydroelectric plants located in the city.

With all the natural wonders and blessings bestowd upon the city, the most prized assest of Iligan is still the warm and vibrant hospitality of its people.  Both natives and people of different ethnicity all come together to make Iligan their home.
